Ex-Goldman Sachs executive and a hedge fund manager Scott Lawin has joined Pantera Capital Management as its President.

In his new role, Lawin will focus on fostering deeper partnerships, according to his LinkedIn post.

“With mainstream adoption of crypto and blockchain on the rise, the opportunity to build, innovate, and deliver long-term value for investors and the broader ecosystem has never been greater,” he posted.

“As we chart the path forward, my focus will be building on Pantera’s strong foundation, fostering deeper partnerships, and continuing to champion the entrepreneurs who are defining the future of finance and technology,” Lawin explained.

Lawin is among the most senior executives in the crypto sector, but he started his career in traditional finance.

He worked at Goldman Sachs for more than a decade between 1993 and 2005, in several roles, including the Global Head of the Credit Liability Management business, Head of Global Strategy, and Chief of Staff of the Fixed Income, Currency & Commodity Division.

In 2005, he joined Fortress Investment and became the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Liquid Markets Hedge Fund business of the firm. In 2010, Lawin joined hedge fund Moore Capital and became COO of the firm.
